I was the 1st Platoon Leader. I made CPT two & a half months after arriving in country. Got kicked up to the brigade Hq to command the HHC. Served with some fine men in the Second Hounds and regretted having to leave the platoon to command a company of
REMF's.
I want to remember 1LT Dennis E. Heitner who was KIA 13 June 1970. He was going to "break me in" but he never got the chance. I also want to remember LT Reynolds who lost both his legs to a booby trap. He was the 3rd Platoon Leader.
Would like to hear from any of the men I served with in the Platoon.

Gentlemen,
I am not an alumni of the Wolfhounds, however, my dad is. He is Elmer M. Nelson "Mad Dog" 70-71. He served in A 1/27, I
believe as the XO. He doesn't talk much of the war, except the humorous times (little that they were). He has regaled me with stories
of how he received the "Mad Dog" moniker, as well as other fond memories he has. I have seen his photo album from Viet Nam, and he still has his Wolfhound beer stein. If anyone remembers him during his tour, I would appreciate corresponding. He is still
alive and well. He and my mom resides in Page, AZ where he is an assistant manager with Walmart. He retired in 1982 as a Major at Fort Leavenworth, KS. I cannot express, in words, how proud I am of my dad, as well as other veterans out there. As a se
vice member myself, I can appreciate the need for individuals who possess honor, integrity, and loyalty such as yourselves. I am currently stationed at Fort Polk, LA as an Observer/Controller at the Joint Readiness Training
Center (JRTC). Again, thank you
for your site, and reminding me of the sacrifice that has been made - at times the ultimate sacrifice - by each and every one of the Wolfhounds. May God bless you and keep you, and you are not forgotten.

had problems with insubordination and was placed with various other companies, while officially still with "Headquarters". He is having
trouble with disability benefits because his job title never got changed from personnel to a combat position. I am trying to find other veterans
who may have known him. Robert was at Ku Chi in 1968 as well as being at Tay Ninh at a major helicopter refueling station. Any response would be appreciated. Does this information help?
